The Holy Spirit Makes a Movie? I don’t think so . . .

Well, there is this new movie out.

The trailer opens with Bill Johnson talking.

It premiered at Bethel, Redding.

I am overwhelmed with a burden over this.

I am grieved.

I can hardly write about how horrible this is.

This movie turns legitimate Christianity into some David Blaine/Chris Angel street magick show.

The director,  Darren Wilson says, “This movie is about risk. I want to take the greatest risk possible, and make a movie that is completely led by the Holy Spirit. No plan. No safety. Just show up wherever He leads me, and make God famous” (music crescendos).

Well, the director failed.

God would never lead anyone to interview Bill Johnson.

This movie promotes false teachers and dangerous ministries.

And people who may not have even been associated with false teaching are now lumped together, validating error and demonic manifestations of the Holy Spirit.

Psalm86 exposes Bill Johnson’s false “Holy Spirit”

You can find many more videos on the internet of people at Bethel, Redding laying on the floor screaming, laughing, drunk in the “spirit.” It is disgusting.

This video below is amazing. It shows clips of Bill Johnson’s absurd claims and counters it with the truth of Scripture.

Now, I believe in the Holy Spirit. I believe in the gifts of the Spirit. I am filled with the Holy Spirit. I minister in the gifts of the Spirit. BUT, I do not believe God wants me to get drunk “in the spirit,” or go around the streets giving people some spiritual experience. It isn’t a magic show. That is demonic. I don’t want to touch someone with my hand and make them fall down and shake uncontrollably and walk out of church /unrepentant/. I want to touch people with the Word of God coming out of my mouth /theBible/ and have them fall onto their knees (maybe), sobbing (maybe), broken and repentant (definitely).

The Holy Spirit moves through the Bible. The Holy Spirit leads us TO the Bible. The Bible leads us to Truth. Truth leads us to Repentance. It is all connected. But without TRUTH, there is NOTHING.

“But when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come.” John 16:13

Hit the street and preach the GOSPEL.

People will encounter the Holy Spirit when they by faith receive the Gospel.

They don’t need some fake mystical “prophet/healer” to draw attention to humans.

They need SALVATION first.

The Bible says that the Holy Spirit leads us into all truth.

Why would the Holy Spirit move through people teaching error.

It is a false spirit.

A false gospel.

A false movement.

Brian Head Welch formerly from Korn, current “Whosoever,” Love and Death member, currently again in Korn, spiritual guru is also in this movie.

He compares the Holy Spirit experience to a spiritual high.

He is not saying that God’s love is better than drugs. He is saying that his experience with God, feels like using drugs.

On his alternate Facebook page, Love Drunk Headly, he wrote, “Jesus is revealing deep hidden mysteries to me right now after my trials and I am getting so high on his love.” (Love Drunk Headly, June 5).

He doesn’t mean that metaphorically, either.

As you can see him here “toking baby Jesus” with false teacher John Crowder.

They even served demonic communion together.

Brian is very mystical as well.

“In order to open up the heavenly dimension to make you sensitive to the spiritual/angelic realm ruled by Christ, I recommend that you take in God all day, every day, in any way that you can. Make yourself “attractive” to God. The word says if you “draw near to God,” He will “draw near to you.” Drawing near doesn’t mean for 5, 15 or 30 minutes. Drawing near is a lifestyle. It’s eating, drinking, reading, seeing, listening and breathing in God… All day, every day (as much as your schedule permits of course) . . . ” (Love Drunk Headly, March 26).

He goes to Bethel, Redding whenever he gets a chance. He promotes them on his Facebook. So you don’t need to wonder where he comes up with the attitude he shared on his Facebook just a few months ago.

I mentioned that I don’t go to church a lot, but I don’t dislike going. I do dislike boring, traditional churches but I respect everybody for what they believe and how they want to live their lives. I usually go to gatherings at nighttime rather than early Sunday mornings. Feels more like a party at night! I was at a spot last night and I had a smile glued on my face most of the night. I even found myself belly laughing hard with friends by the end of the night. Was a blast! I could feel God or angels or something. I don’t see them yet, but I can sense or feel “things” a lot. I know when the atmosphere shifts spiritually. There are some people, who are very normal I should add, with the gift of seeing things in the spirit world. A very young girl last night told me she saw some angels of joy twirling around my head. I believe it, because I could feel stuff going on. I know to some of you that this sounds nuts when you read about it, LOL, but I swear, the more you open yourself up, you actually figure out that it is very real. It’s cool because I totally function normal and I mostly hang out with people who don’t believe in this stuff the majority of the time, but I’m always connected to my spiritual life, especially when I find time to get alone and when I have time off from regular life. When Jesus walked the earth, he was attached to two realms – The earth realm and the heavenly realms. My goal is the same. I can be banging my head at KoRn concerts all over the world, and be connected with God in Spirit at the same time. I used to detach from this world all the time and party with drugs, now I just detach myself from this world and I party with God, & all my peeps (no matter what they believe)! Drugs take you into the spiritual world illegally (spiritually speaking). Jesus Christ takes you into the spiritual world legally.” (Love Drunk Headly, March 18)

So just PRETEND it IS God . . . Sounds like Peter Pan nonsense to me.

So he dislikes boring churches. I guess by that he means normal churches, where you go and worship and study your Bible and pray.

He prefers to get drunk or high on the “Holy Spirit.”

So he has no hunger for the Word of God, but craves some spiritual fix. Truth doesn’t matter. Just encounter something, and tell yourself it is from God.

No wonder he cannot discern truth from error.

And yet, he is a Whosoever.

He is associated with and promoted by Calvary Chapels.

They are not into this garbage!

They do not have Bill Johnson books in their Chapel Store.

Why is this okay with them?

The Whosoevers don’t care.

They just hashtag Korn all day long.

#whosoevers #movement #korn

Where is the hashtag for standards?

At what point are we just compromising truth for the sake of fame.

Just like the director of this movie said, “to make God famous.”

Wow. So He needed your help?

God is looking for fans?

God is looking for disciples, not fame.

Satan offered him fame in the wilderness and he chose the cross instead. He is famous already. He has a kingdom already. Who is trying to get famous here? Him, or you?

New Age Philosophy with a Christian mask.

It is one thing for the New Apostolic Reformation folks to be a part of a movie like this, but when members of conservative groups get on board; it is insanity.

And there are other people in this movie that I am sure are also false teachers, but come on Veggie Tales?! Did you have to disappoint me too??? When are we going to see Larry the Cucumber get “pickled in the spirit?”

We are in the last days.

May we seek the Holy Spirit.

One of His gifts is discernment.

We desperately need it.

“For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. 4 They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.” 2 Timothy 4:3-4

Great post! I pray that all people take heed.

  2. Exemplary warning about the false “Cheezitx” worship with their kundalini SERPENT energy replacing God’s Holy Spirit. Thanks for staying in the war zone!

  3. Jeri says:

I marvel at all the deception in what some people call the church. For lack of real Holy Ghost representation in the church, ,many have resorted to Sensationalism. I remember a few years ago, David Wilkerson trying to warn the Church of this very thing. I remember one video, at that time, posted online that showed a Pastor of a (supposed) Church, wearing a dog leash, and His wife was holding the .leash, and He was crawling around the building like a dog, making sounds like a dog.. There were other videos just as ridiculous One woman had mastered the howl of a wolf to perfection, and attributed it to the Holy Spirit..They were calling it the Holy Spirit then, and continue to manifest craziness, and call it the Holy Spirit today. Our role as Christians is not to make God famous, Which in these cases I would have to say…infamous.( as the world looks on and sees it for what it is….Foolishness.) but we are called to be followers of His Son in a way that our lives honor Him.

  4. Dana says:

Did you actually see the movie? …It sounds like you haven’t. Well if you can I’d love to hear more specifics about what you thought. I watched it during the 48 hours it was free and honestly it is far worse than what you are even saying here… Bill Johnson isn’t really in the film. Outside of just making those comments that you see in the trailer.. There are some scenes where it literally did look like David Blaine with them waving their hands over another guy’s palms. Also loved how they included Lenny Kravitz as if he’s someone we Christians should be mentored by! haha

I’m not sure what you think of Todd White, but I was very disappointed in him with this movie. I have to admit, I’m pretty out of the loop when it comes to these movies. I’ve only seen Furious Love prior to this one. Todd White is always harping on “Jesus didn’t die to for you to go to heaven. He died to get heaven in you”. For Todd this means, there must be a denial of self and a transformation of life. That you don’t just say a prayer and live as you want and expect to go to heaven. Well he’s working right alongside people who are currently in KoRn. Something doesn’t jive right, so either he’s lying when he says these messages or he’s been compromised. I don’t really agree with your caption on Todd, saying that he’s New Age. I have my disagreements with Todd on little things, but that is not really something I’ve even seen from him. I think of everyone in this film, he was the only one who actually preached the gospel. Everyone else was doing magic tricks.

    God bless you.

    • No! I haven’t seen the whole thing yet! I missed the day when they streamed it live. We were out of town. And I would HATE to actually purchase the whole thing, and support it. I will have to wait until it is online.

Even if Bill Johnson isn’t in the full length movie, using him to promote it, and premiering it at his church is rotten.

Thank you for sharing. I can’t believe that it is worse than what I even thought from watching the trailer. It seriously makes me so sad.

Now, I am not familiar at all with Todd White. I looked him up after seeing this trailer. And from what I see, I am very skeptical of him. But again, I haven’t seen the whole movie, or much of him so I didn’t feel comfortable writing about him. I felt like that quote and his picture was enough. Not good.

I have a few friends on Facebook promoting this, and I know they have no idea who Bill Johnson and Kim Walker-Smith are. They have no idea that these are huge red flags. I am so afraid that we are moving in a direction where truth will be compromised because we see some spiritual experience convince us that something is of God.

      This is horrible.

      • Dana says:

I totally understand not wanting to support them by buying the movie. I wouldn’t either!!

I have been speaking out about this film on my FB page, YT or on charismanews. I am very concerned too!! In my opinion it’s really pushing the ideology of hyper-grace and an easy believing, “just receive Jesus in your heart and live your life as you want, God loves you!” kind of gospel. Some of the quotes used by Brian Welch, Lenny Kravitz and Darren Wilson’s father in the film are soo horrible. They even made a Cessationist believer look like a total fool for preaching the real gospel. Sure his delivery could have been better (he was yelling at people on the street), but his actual message was the truth.

I feel like I know very little about Bill Johnson’s and Kim’s beliefs. I have a hard time even watching anything from him. lol I always felt more called to the street ministry crowd, which includes Todd White and many others that I won’t name here. No point in giving them publicity!

In all the places I have been speaking out about this movie, everyone has the same arguments. Here’s a summary…
1). Name calling is the first…, You are a legalist, Pharisee and unloving judgmental person who loves the scriptures but doesn’t know God or the Holy Spirit.
2). We are not to judge each other and have to love people as God loves us.
3). We are to be a light in dark places, so God is using Brian and Fieldy (and Lenny Kravitz apparently) in this way.
4). “Even Jesus ate with the sinners”
5). “You are promoting a works based salvation that says you have to do good to be saved”

Looking at all of those answers, that is why I say this is hyper-grace and/or in the very least promoting a message of lawlessness. This is the same things they say to people who preach righteousness. So I have been trying to poke holes in their arguments because I think this is the only way to get through to some of them. I believe many are too far gone. Their identity isn’t in Jesus Christ, but in the personalities in the Charismatic church. They can’t betray their identities so many will fall off the cliff with them. It’s blind guides leading the blind. It is horribly sad!

        • I subscribe to the late David Wilkerson’s daily devotional. But I hadn’t read this one until my friend emailed it to me tonight. It was so good. It is about exactly what you just shared. I thank the Lord for His word that His Spirit uses to give us confirmation!!!!

David’s love for the Lord never grew cold because he had respect for every word. “The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever: the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward” (Psalm 19:9-11). “By them thy servant is warned.” Who is going to warn all those deluded sheep whose shepherds do not tell them the truth? They call this doomsday preaching negative, false prophecy but David and the prophets called it all sweet honey!

The sweetest, most merciful thing God is doing today for His people is to once again send fearless prophets and watchmen to awaken the church and instill the fear of God. How sweet the sound: “Flee the wrath of God.” Honey! “Without holiness no man shall see God.” Honey! “Except ye repent, ye shall die in your sins.” Honey! “The earth and also the works therein shall be burned up!” Honey! I trust you can say with Jeremiah, “Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart” (Jeremiah 15:16).

Jesus warned, “But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved” (Matthew 24:13). This speaks of those whose love never decays, but rather grows and perseveres through all trials. Timothy ties it to our attitudes toward sound doctrine: “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine . . . and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables” (2 Timothy 4:3-4). A great resistance to pure, uncorrupt doctrine is coming in these very last days. Sound doctrine conforms hearers to godliness but many will not put up with it—they won’t endure it. There will be a widespread rejection of holiness preaching and prophetic warnings (see 2 Thessalonians 2:10-12).

Thousands of Christians will be so cold at midnight that not even the falling judgments will move them back to God. Jeremiah mourned for his people: “Thou hast stricken them, but they have not grieved; thou hast consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction” (Jeremiah 5:3). We have this warning from Peter: “Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your steadfastness. But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:17-18). Do not be led away by sin or false doctrines or by anger at the Word!

      • bree says:

Todd white is a regular at bethel redding. He hangs out with patricia white who in return is a bethel regular. Everyone in this movie has ties to bethel. I’m saddend by this as well. I found out my church had the only screening in town of this hortific movie. Needless to say, I don’t attend there anymore.

    • bree says:

Todd is a regular at bethel. Google his name with bethel. He also hangs with paula white! Sorry, but he is not good. Too many coincidences.

  5. I know that when I came back to the Lord in 1991 after years of running away from my salvation many years before… Gods Spirit was the difference this time. Through the confirmation of Gods Word, it was revealed to me that I was to seek Truth with all my heart, and that Gods Spirit would discern that Truth for me as long as I was coming to Him as a child and solely leaned on Gods Word!
I have been committed to Gods Word, which is Jesus, to reveal to me what is True and that which is false… especially when it comes to new age philosophy, manifestations of the flesh not of the Spirit, false teachings, etc…
I simply ask God to reveal to me Truth in any situation and He has never let me down!
That being said… I can concur with your discernment regarding these movements and the Holy Spirit in me does not bear witness with what I am seeing on these videos, and certainly gives me a wisdom to see them as being actions of false spirit.
Keep up the work of a Watchman and speak the Truth and stand against the wiles of the devil!!!

  6. Nice article. I hope you don’t mind, but I shared it on our site (linking back to you, of course!)

  7. SuMari says:

I’m glad to see this review from you…when those from the Reformed-type groups speak out they are written off because they are either considered Calvinists (a dirty word from all I have gathered on the internet) or they are cessationists (which means they lose any credibility with the charismatic crowd)…because you don’t fall into either of these groups maybe your voice will be heard. This is messy business for me…I know so many who happily and freely embrace all of this…I’m watching it be promoted on my FB feed…in fact, that is how I learned of the movie and actually watched it twice during the initial 48 hours that it was available to watch for free. Todd White is an enigma for me…at times during the movie it really seems that he knows the true Lord and that is what complicates things…I have a first hand account of someone he laid hands on and prayed for…it was in a local church…he came in the name of Jesus and prayed in the name of Jesus…and the person was healed. Some will say the healings are not real or that they are psychosomatic or of the devil…but when the person who receives the healing is believing it is in Jesus and it happens in a Christian church…what are we to do with this? The person healed was my then 17 year old daughter…she did not attend the church service to “get healed”…Todd sought her out after the service…prophesied over her then prayed for her. Approximately a year earlier she was in a serious car accident…the car rolled several times…her neck was injured and she suffered with severe neck pain, as well as, terrible headaches…physical therapy did not help. She honestly began to believe that she would suffer with this the rest of her life…and then in a moment the issue was gone (after todd prayed for her)…no more neck pain, no more headaches…at the time we didn’t know who Todd White was…we didn’t understand what Bethel was all about either…we innocently believed that God healed our daughter. I have been in discussions on various threads concerning this movie…warning people that this not how we share the Gospel…that this is dangerous stuff…but I cannot do as Chris Rosebrough of Fighting for the Faith (Pirate Christian Radio) has done…he calls the guys charletons and hucksters and says it is nothing but parlor tricks…(and it certainly does look that way), but where I think the mistake is being made is that I don’t think the people in the movie are setting out to deceive anyone, but rather they are deceived themselves…this is two very different things! And I think that that assessment immediately shuts down any type of meaningful conversation with someone who is caught up in everything this movie promotes…(and knowing that you believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit and move in them…we need people like you to reach this crowd)…and then…what do with those who honestly get healed after someone like Todd White prays for them? Seeking God in this matter…Thanks again for speaking out…it is much needed.

    • Dana says:

      Hey SuMari,

I have sought the Lord over these types of things as well. There’s so much about Todd White that really gets me going, but it does seem like he God has used him to heal people in Jesus name. If you feel God gives you clarity in this, please reply back if you don’t mind. I don’t want to be working against someone that God is truly using. God bless you and Praise the Lord that your daughter is healed!

      • bree says:

No. He is false. He uses the trick of leg growing all the time, but that’s not it. Look at who he runs with. Google paula white and bethe, redding. He is a regular there with mr. Bill johnson, the man who insists Jesus was not God on earth. They are all false prophets.

        • Dana says:

Ok my next question then is do you believe that God uses people to bring about healing in the name of Jesus? I ask only because those who don’t believe this, then yes it is very easy to write everyone off. I agree with you the leg growing thing is soo stupid. haha!

I’m not looking at who he runs with. I’m looking at Todd on his own here. There’s a lot about him I do not like. He tells hurt, sick people to “Get over it” and runs his mouth about how awesome he is that he got healed from a shoulder injury and didn’t get it get to him…..So trust me I understand he’s got some ego and pride issues. But to say that the devil healed this woman’s daughter? I mean would you go that far? So God is doing nothing, but the devil is doing everything? That is my question and concern for those that outright reject everyone in this “movement”. As you can see…I did not like this movie at all and have spoken out against it, but to just label everyone off I think we should be cautious!! Just sincere questions. God bless !!

          • bree says:

You should not run around with false teachers. It brings into question what type of discernment is going on here. And it is very telling who one keeps company with. He is a false prophet. I have watched his videos and his speaking perforfmances at bethel redding. The holy spirit would never lead a righteous man to these people. The devil will use some truth to push his lies.

          • I think you were talking to bree, but I wanted to chime in too. I think that if someone says that they are so close to the Lord that they have this “deeply/prophetic/healing” ministry–then you should expect the doctrine to be GOOD. I mean God cares about the WORD first. All of Jesus’ miracles were secondary to his doctrine. His Word is what He pointed to, not the miracles. A wicked and adulterous generation seek a sign. If Todd White were hearing from God in a truly prophetic way, the Lord would first point him to good doctrine. Todd would have a check in his spirit about false teachers. God would never validate a false teacher with miracles from the Holy Spirit. Why would God want to send people to a shepherd that will feed them false teaching? He wouldn’t. If the miracles are from God, the teaching will be Biblical. Pulling on someone’s leg is the oldest trick in the book for these faith healers. It is a trick. Let’s see him pray over Bethany Hamilton’s arm. But even then, the miracles don’t matter–the doctrine matters. He doesn’t stand for truth. He won’t stand up against false teachers, and worse, he works along side of them. That is bad.

          • Jeri says:

I marvel at how many people use the measuring stick of healing or a miracle as proof of the person who is behind the deed as being or not being of God, Even the Apostle Paul made comment about people in ministry. He gave an unflattering list of reasons people were ministering, Some were preaching Christ sincerely, but some were preaching with envy and strife.Even jJesus said that many will stand before Him in that day, and say a ” Did not we do great works and miracles in your name, and He will say ‘Depart from me, you workers of Iniquity, I never knew you.’It can be the persons faith that is Prayed for that brings healing of some one else who has faith for them, One of the areas of deceit in the last days will be signs and wonders. Even so great that if it were possible, the very elect would be deceived, That was Jesus that said that. If someone is not walking according to the Word, I refuse to follow with them. regardless of what they seem to be, The Word is true, and will have the final say.

  8. M'Kayla says:

The work that we do in exposing these errors is a hard one, but one that is very necessary. I came out of what I now collectively call “Bethel”- my involvement included International Association of Healing Rooms, the false prophetic, dream and vision interpretation, etc.

For several years I experienced the phenomena behind this spirit. I know first hand how it operates, how it “feels”, the manifestations, the feeling of power, of ecstasy…the dreams and visions…and I can say this spirit is not of Jesus Christ.

People are easily mislead not only because they have been taken from scripture but because this demon spirit appeals to their flesh in great and mighty ways. I am now convinced, and have been for some time, the men and women leading these meetings are the ones Jesus warned about when He spoke the words, many will come in my name. Just because someone uses the name of Christ does not mean He is sent of Him. We must listen closely and watch for what happens after that. These quotes and videos posted on this article are quite telling because they do not line up with scripture, the words of Jesus. One of the functions of the Holy Spirit is to reveal Jesus Christ. That is not at all what we see and hearing going on in these meetings and on this video. Not even close.

The focus on healing is a major concern. Cal Pierce, who is the head of International Association of Healing Rooms and a leading player in this healing charismania mess, believes every one should be healed. To what extent? To overcome death? The late Bob Jones, false prophet, aka, shaman, believed and testified to that very thing. But are these claims biblical? Didn’t the Apostle Paul speak of the wearing out of his “tent”? Are we above and beyond that? Cal Pierce believes so. He believes the disciples who walked with Jesus “missed it”, and it is the responsibility and the work of the church to delve into the supernatural and claim all that Jesus intended for us. This would include the same power and authority Christ had when He was here on the earth.

These thoughts sound good to us – they are grandiose – they make us feel good about who we are and what we can accomplish. They give us power and a sense of being, a sense of purpose. They are lies. These ideas have been the ground work for what we are now experiencing. And things are going to get much worse.

I found much help in reading John 14, 15, 16 over and again and I often tell my readers who are so confused to do the same. God will always reveal the truth to us because He has promised to do so and it is the function of the Holy Spirit to lead us into all truth.

Thank you for your work. 🙂 Blessings and peace to you all.

  9. Elaine says:

On Brian’s Welch’s Love Drunk Headly Facebook page – He say, “Supernatural experiences are increasing for me, leading to more and more fruit. Every area of my life is increasing in fruit, including salvations. The church at large would call this new age, but God is raising up humble people who will simply believe the supernatural experiences in the bible and hunger for them in our generation. I’ve been connected to this type of life since 2006, I’m not hiding who I am to please ANYBODY.”

He’s right, the true church would call this new age – because it is. Chasing after these supernatural experiences – we are not called to do that! Nowhere in the Bible does it tell us to do this. Notice he says he’s not going to strive to please anybody. And that means Jesus Christ. He said in an interview with Nikki Sixx from Motely Crue that it’s not about pleasing God – it’s about doing what you want! All this looking for signs – Matthew 16:4 says a wicked and adulterous generation looks for signs. Like M’Kayla says – appealing to the flesh and the power. People love power instead of Jesus Christ and end up being deceived by a false spirit.

I left Calvary Chapel a few years ago. A number of months ago I asked one of the ‘leaders’ of the church about Welch and his drunk in the spirit stance – concerned he was leading people astray. I was basically told that I am unloving and should be supporting him, especially since he had just gotten out of the hospital. It seems Calvary Chapel is supporting this – I don’t see anyone speaking out against it.

I think this is paving the way for acceptance of the anti-christ. 2 Thessalonians 2:9 “Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,”

As it gets worse, the church will be saturated with lying signs and wonders allowing the anti-christ to slip right in, confirming these manifestations as being the real deal.

Thanks to all of you for standing up for the truth.

    • Hello Elaine, I am so glad you shared. I have been praying about writing about Calvary Chapels lack of clear leadership on this issue. I have been trying to get a response from Brian Brodersen and Ryan Ries for weeks on this issue. They are just ignoring my repeated calls and emails. I was trying to do things the right way, working with them. But they don’t care. It is so sad. Please pray for me that The Lord would give me the words to write. That it wouldn’t damage God’s people, but warn them! God bless you!!!!

      • Elaine says:

        Dear Last Hiker,
Thank you so much. I am praying for you. I am so grateful for all you do. You have a clear and concise way of bringing things to light. Straight to the point and in alignment with scripture. I pray that God continues to use you in this very important matter.

The silence from Calvary Chapel leaders or people attending CC is deafening regarding this issue.

I believe that Broderson and Ries condone this. For them to speak out against it would cause way too much upheaval – I do not see it happening. The times are so serious. Love for the world, love for living in the flesh is so strong. Praying for you!

Will keep you in prayer. Im sure you feel like the lone voice in the wilderness. But be vigilant, your voice, Gods voice is being heard. I recomend your site to everyone that I can . Especially those I tell about brian and the whosoevers. Thank you and may the Lord continue to usr you.t

  11. brer says:

Well, todd white hangs with bethel church. He also hangs with patricia king and we know how that is.

  12. Ballerina says:

Elliott Nesch did a really good review on this movie too:
I have not seen it. Have seen the 3 before this one: Furious Love, Father of Lights, and Finger of God, I don’t expect this one to be anymore less heretical.

  13. Jeri says:

Thanks Ballerina for the post on the review by Elliott Nesch. It was a good review…fair and balanced. Its certainly reveals just how far from the truth of Gods Word many have fallen. It is full blown heresy and apostasy. Why don’t they get it? Jesus Christ is the message. Not anything else. Sure we are to teach about the Holy Spirit, as well as every other part of the Christian message.Even Jesus own message about the Holy Spirit, which He made reference to in His teaching….”When He the Spirit of Truth is come, He will testify of ME….Of Who? Who did He say the Holy Spirit would talk about ? About Jesus….He is the Message…No other name or formula given among men where by
you must be Saved….Jesus….He is the message…The Holy Spirit is not the message….He talks about and exalts Jesus…..PERIOD.

    • Ballerina says:

Here is a really really good one (video review) that came out a couple days ago. Just watching it brings back such bad and hurtful memories of when I was in the charismatic movement, because I experienced a lot of that “cold reading”. (sigh) makes me shudder. :-/

      • Jennifer says:

^^GREAT video; these guys are spot-on with their assessment and grounded in the Word. Thank you for sharing!

  14. Anonymous says:

Just a footnote to my post(remembering the Movie title) If the Holy Spirit was actually making a movie….What would He be talking about….lifting up….and exalting? Just a good question to answer for yourself.

  15. Chris says:

Hope this helps to get the word out!!! I couldn’t find your e-mail address, so I took the liberty to post your article!!! Thanks!

    • Wow! I am literally crying right now about this! I can’t believe Calvary Chapel would go along with this! It doesn’t make sense! Thank you for sharing!!! Please get the word out!

Praise the Lord they took them out. But like you said, they should have never even brought them in and what if people bought them in the two days they were there?

      God Bless.

    • bree says:

Just a quick question. If calvary costa mesa are aware of his movie and its dangers, why do they still support brian welch and the whosoevers? Shouldnt that show them brian is compromised? I’m glad they did pull it.

  16. Deborah says:

Wilson also likes to de-mystify the name of his movie production company — Wanderlust — and the reasoning behind it…

“Even when they don’t say anything, I see them thinking it … Wanderlust?” Wilson recounts. “I have a feeling people mostly just notice the ‘lust’ part of the name and leave it at that, so I guess I feel compelled to explain the reasoning behind the choice. First, the basic definition. Wanderlust literally means: ‘A strong, innate desire to travel or wander.’ While I certainly do like to travel, that’s not the significance behind the name. The real point of it lies in the spiritual connotations.”

Wilson points out the company’s name is also behind the heart of Holy Ghost.

The above excerpts were taken from this link…

    Full Definition of WANDERLUST
: strong longing for or impulse toward wandering

    Full Definition of WANDER
    intransitive verb
1 a : to move about without a fixed course, aim, or goal
b : to go idly about : ramble
    2 : to follow a winding course : meander
    3 a : to go astray (as from a course) : stray
b : to go astray morally : err
c : to lose normal mental contact : stray in thought <his mind wandered

    Full Definition of LUST
    1 obsolete
    a : pleasure, delight
    b : personal inclination : wish
2 : usu. intense or unbridled sexual desire : lasciviousness
    3 a : an intense longing : craving
    b : enthusiasm, eagerness

NOTE**Both words WANDERING and LUST have negative connotations when you look them up in Scripture. It would be BLASPHEMY to attribute these to our Father’s Spirit as Darren Wilson suggests!!

    • Excellent analysis Deborah, thank you so much for sharing all that information!!! I had noticed the name before, and it had always bothered me but this really explains why the name is really symbolic. Thank you very much.

      • Deborah says:

        HalleluYah!!! 🙂

        • Nora says:

First off, I am in absolute agreement with you in this post. This is not a criticism of either of you! I just wanted to add that wanderlust is originally a German word. I took German in high school a few years ago, so I am by no means an authority on the subject (if anyone is a fluent German speaker please chime in!). In the original German, I don’t believe the word carries a negative or immoral connotation. I think it literally means the intense desire to travel. The word lust in English pretty much refers only to sinful desires. As far as I know, the meaning in German is broader. But the name aside, I am not at all surprised by the content of this movie, but am still disappointed that it seems so few people are really paying attention to this movement that is gaining so much traction. Thank you for your research! I know you are very diligent and prayerful about these blog posts.

  17. Visitor says:

I have to say…becouse people like you…i walked out of church years ago. And i crowed up in church. Thank God He can find us where ever we are and what ever we are doing.
If this film turns even one heart to Jesus..its done its work..and you should thank God for that! God can even make donkey talk. Don’t put Him in a box.

    • Jeri says:

I grew up in church also. I am almost 80 years old, I pastored a thriving church for over 20 years, had a regular radio program for several years. I have taught youth camps…ministered in different capacities of ministry for many years., so I am not exactly a novice. . I came by chance upon the site of the young lady who sponsors this blog. She does her research and homework well. and ministers effectually to the Body Of Christ. The True Church does not need things that are false to lead people to Jesus. The t truth works just fine. A lot of foolishness was being expressed in the movie that did not exalt Jesus. Jesus is the message. He said that when the Holy Spirit came,, that He would talk about Him (Jesus) The Young lady was right in her estimation and message. No where in the word of God are we exhorted to stand with things that are wrong.

    • get1nvolved says:

We all need discernment. The church needs discernment. Recently, I left a church that I stayed with the last 4 years…why? because I used that same thinking…I call it the “at least” thinking. This church preached what I now know as the prosperity gospel. I knew there was something wrong almost from the beginning…I knew I was bothered but I kept trying to justify what I heard…looked for reasons to stay. Friends that I had known for years were there. Spirit-filled Christians who love the Lord. I thought, surely they hear what I hear. The devil, who has had centuries of lying, comes masquerading as an ” angel of light,” as the Bible says. He doesn’t use blatant lies all the time. That would be too obvious. There has to be some credibility…to gain an audience, so, of course, he will use enough Scripture, twist it, make his purposes blend in and appeal to men’s soulish desires, their desires to be rich, or their desire for signs and wonders, etc. The end of all this is to undermine the real gospel…the Truth. That’s how the preachers, in this church that I left, have been able to collect a lot of money from the congregation. They called it “seed” money —- “seed” faith. Yes, God can use a donkey…but He doesn’t use error or a different doctrine for His purposes. I agree with Jeri and the lady writing this blog…I’m thankful for the insights here.

  18. Lisa says:

I’m just confused about this post vs the post you made about John MacArthur a while back. It seems to me that Macarthur disagrees with the premise of this movie as well.
I know MacArthur does not doubt that God can do miracles. But, the Wanderlust movies are false and they are leading people astray. God doesn’t need us to give Him control. He has control. These movies show people conjuring up an experience to prove God. There is no gospel, salvation or glorification of God. I have been invited to watch one of these movies and I called out the creators of the movie as false teachers. I was basically treated like a pariah. I was accused of being unloving and embracing darkness when I was speaking truth and pointing out error. Its a sad day in the church.

    • Hi Lisa, sorry about confusing you. I agree with you that these people are false teachers and this movement is crazy and should be exposed. This is not Biblical. But I do disagree with John MacArthur that the gifts have ceased.

I think the confusion lies in that fact that MOST Pentecostal churches do not obey scripture in relation to spiritual gifts–opening themselves up to error, false teaching, manipulation, hype, and even demons.

      • scandela2 says:

You are right! the gifts have not ceased! I’ve seen God working in many people’s lives recently. I believe he is trying to get people to use their gifts. I agree that some Pentecostal churches misuse the gifts, or promote them to be something they are not. I watched one pastor actually push someone to the floor when he prayed for! This is total manipulation, and yes, it may be demonic too. I’ve seen some TV programs where a preacher prays for people and the people are jumping up and down, screaming, running around – basically making fools out of themselves. The Bible says we will not lose control like that. We might get weak-kneed because the spirit is so strong, and have to back up and sit down, but God doesn’t mean for us to act like we’re at some crazy party. If the spirit is really over them, how could they hear the message through all those crazy actions? My church is Pentecostal, part of the Assemblies of God, but I’ve never seen this crazy type of behavior there. The spirit has brought me to my knees before – like fire going through me, but I heard from God – He gave me a message through that experience. But all this hype demonstrations I don’t believe are real.

  19. Visitor says:

    Luke 6:37
“Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.
    Luke 6:41
“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?
    1 Corinthians 4:5
Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait until the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of the heart. At that time each will receive their praise from God.

    • You are taking all of those verses out of context.

      • Lisa says:

Yes! Please read the verse and the chapter and the book AND the entire Bible. Then recognize the nature and character of God. He is holy. He Does call us to judge righteously and beware of false teachers.

    • Jeri says:

We are not to simply be a judgemental person, so there are scriptures of caution, There are just as many that point out the things that we can know (if we know the scriptures} that point out error, and they are there for our guidance, so we will not be fooled by deceivers. We are told that a tree will be known by its fruit, and if someone is living an immoral life, we are told not to have fellowship with them….not to even eat with them. There are others we are suppose to “Avoid.’ I deliberately left out where they are found… anyone who questions can look them up for themselves. In the book of Revelation, Jesus spoke condemnation upon things that were wrong in the Churches, and there were several things wrong, and He pointed them out. Others He commended for dealing with the false People in the Church. No where in the Scriptures are we encouraged to embrace sin in the Church. Some abominable sins are being embraced in a lot of Religious groups today Jesus offers forgivness and deliverance…….not tolerance. He offers mercy and forgiveness for those who desire it.

  20. David says:

wow. So anybody can post! awesome.well I like your blog a lot, and this article is just what the body of Christ needs. I wonder what is it you guys see wrong with Todd White. We know who he hangs with and stuff, but something concrete that exposes a lie? where does he preaches falsehood?

In regard with miracles, have you guys check out “The Elijah Challenge” ministry?
    pretty solid to me.

  21. Mindy Beyerl says:

Just wondering if you ever saw the movie? It’s on Netflix for free now, or at least it was a week or so ago.

  22. Aaron Johnson says:

I agree my friend. I am open to the Holy Spirit moving and am filled with the spirit as well. However this is the whole reason I left the church I grew up in for 20 years. The abuse of the gifts. I was drawn to this film because of wilsons previous film furious love, which to me was great! Disappointed that he took this route.

  23. phillatimer says:

the first two films are on youtube (not sure about the holy spirit film), i despair at it all, my church watched “finger of God” last week and “furious love” is on tonight, I am going just to find out who is being exposed to this falseness. I did question my pastor and all he could say was “i don’t understand it all but god is being glorified through it” I was later reminded of matthew 7:21-23 where god says to those who claim to have used god’s name to heal and rid people of demons ” go away i don’t know you!” Everyone needs to question everything that comes from the front of their churches, i was so on guard on sunday, i didn’t like it but we have to be against this virus of deception

    • Lisa M says:

Matthew 10 indicates the instructions given to the 12. Specifically in verse 8 Jesus gives them direction on healing the sick and raising the dead. The Bible is clear that those instructions were for the 12. Darren Wilson is promoting a false teaching in those movies. Those people are only glorifying themselves and do not present the gospel of Jesus Christ. I would run away as fast as I could.

  24. ARS says:

What in the world is “demonic communion?” I agree with a lot of this post but I dont believe the tone is “speaking the truth in love” – I knew bill Johnson before he moved to redding, before bethel – while I don’t agree with what is going on there now I never heard him personally attack people like this. I have been in simple Bible ministry with people who are in the world – from OMG bikers and gang members to prisoners. They are rough around the edges. Not everyone who is saved has to have a baptist haircut. the author here has a good message but people won’t listen or take it seriously if it is so angry and attacking.

  25. Justin says:

Have you made yourself aavailable to these experiences with he holy spirit or are you just writing your opinion about something that youve never experienced?

    • I am a Spirit filled Pentecostal (Biblical Pentacostal). I believe in and rely on the gifts of the Spirit. I do not believe the gifts should be used for entertainment, it isn’t a show. The Lord isn’t a spectacle. And a sinner repenting and coming to Christ is a bigger miraculous wonder than a leg growing longer. 😀

  26. Anonymous says:

I think that you should be very careful when “judging” what you think God is involved in /what He isn’t involved. It’s actually not your job to “out” people who you think might be wrong. That’s God’s job. Matthew 7 is very clear about judgement. As we judge, we will be judged. I don’t know about you, but I am on a journey with God and am discovering more and more about Him. As He puts His finger on things in my life, I deal with them. That journey seems to be pretty common to the human race. Maybe God has shown you something – who am I to say? But instead of operating in the fear stream, maybe you could pray blessing on those that you are calling false prophets, and minister in the opposite spirit. Maybe you can ask God to bless, rather than curse. Jesus operated in love, except to the “religious people” who were all about the law and not about the heart or the Spirit. In praying blessing on those you may have a problem with, maybe God will just do something amazing and unexpected…..

    • Hi Someone, Matthew 7 is talking about judging someone for condemnation–like, “You are going to hell!” Like thinking you are better than others or looking down on people. BUT if you keep reading Matthew 7 you will see in verses 15-30 Jesus actually telling us to judge people for identification!!! He says, “you will know them by their fruit.” This means He is telling us to judge people so we know if they are from Him or not! We need to consider their fruit. Furthermore, and more specific to the area of spiritual gifts, we have 1 Corinthians 14:29 explicitly tell us that when gifts are operating we need to have people discerning and judging what is being done–“Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge.” We need to judge!!! Even Thessalonians 5 reiterates this–“Do not quench the Spirit. 20 Do not despise prophecies. 21 Test all things; hold fast what is good.” We need to TEST what is said to be works of the Spirit!!! Is it the Lord? Is it the flesh? Is it another spirit?

If you want to accept anything, that is on you! You will end up eventually receiving a spirit of error, but you wanted that, because you are not listening to the full counsel of scripture. It is reckless and dangerous, and it makes me sad.

I pray that the Lord confirms this to you!

“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.” 1 John 4:1

      • Susan says:

Great answer…hopefully it does not fall on deaf ears. That particular scripture of “judge not” is so misunderstood…and so mis-applied.

  27. Looks like a mix of Christianity with other relgions. “Pick and mix” type of new age christianity. It is everywhere. “Do as thou wilt” is huge right now!! Alister Crowley the famous satanist started it i think. There is one where they has gemstones fall from heaven. Same film series. Looks and feels wrong. Did research they said it is is not from God these gemstone miracles.

  28. Martin says:

    Hello fellow watchmen!
Regarding this New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) i have found some very interesting and useful articles i would like to share.

May the Holy Spirit lead us to the truth

  29. Levi Gibson says:

You assume and lean on your own understanding alot…
Please pray extensively, seek God out on this before you post these sorts of things.

“Now, I believe in the Holy Spirit. I believe in the gifts of the Spirit. I am filled with the Holy Spirit. I minister in the gifts of the Spirit. BUT, I do not believe God wants me to get drunk “in the spirit,” or go around the streets giving people some spiritual experience. It isn’t a magic show. That is demonic.”

    Mark 3:28-29
“Assuredly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they may utter; but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is subject to eternal condemnation”

    • So unless I believe Todd Bentley and other clowns (who walk in blatant sin) can knock me down my breathing in me–I am blaspheming the Holy Spirit. You do not study the Scriptures. I am filled with the Holy Spirit, and yet you say that God will not forgive my sins? Makes no sense.

      • Lisa M says:

Thank you for your blog Last Hiker. I believe that people lack discernment because of 2 things , they are spiritually immature or are not regenerate Christians at all. I’m having trouble understanding if people realize they are spiritually immature or are just so set in their ways that they refuse to listen to sound doctrine which may take them out of their comfort zones. I generally try not to go around correcting others. But, even when I’m asked about a certain doctrine or doctrinal error as it were, people are not receptive to hearing or being shown what is Biblical. Biblical illiteracy is more than a problem in the church it is an epidemic. I go from sadness to frustration and back to sadness. I have a difficult time in life groups and Bible studies because I am the one pointing out error in the “studies” we are using. My husband and I have decided to take a serious break from so called Bible Studies which use books and study guides because it’s hard to trust the authors not to inject their opinions. Unfortunately, due to Biblical illiteracy people can’t tell the difference between the Word of God and someone’s opinion or tradition. The subtleties of the false teachers today are difficult to recognize. I pray you do not get discouraged by the attacks. Stand on the Word and persevere. God is with you.

  30. Lori Wilkins says:

I grew up in the church and Todd White is the first teacher who ever taught me on a deep level to what my identity is in Christ. I am a daughter of the King. I no longer walk with concern of what man says about me because I know what my father says about me. I saw him in person and he taught me how to go out share Jesus and pray and lay hands on the sick. The first person I prayed for was healed and led to Christ. I tell people that Jesus loves them and pray for people every opportunity I have. If you guys thing satan is doing the healing when we do it in the name of Jesus then we are all in trouble. I don’t know about Bethel because have never followed Johnson but do know what I have experienced and learned through Todd White and know in my spirit that he is the real deal.
